ARADHANA'S FAMILY

Because of Shana, high school students get the chance to learn life skills and utilize them while experiencing what the real world looks life.

Shana is blessed with passion and dedication towards her students like few others. Both my daughters have worked with her at Mt. Hope High School, and we know firsthand the incredible effect she has on people and programs around her. My older daughter got an opportunity to travel to Iowa with Shana for the XQ: RI program last year, and she came back with so much admiration and respect for her, even though they had only spent two days together. Through the XQ program, students were able to give direct feedback about what they felt needed to change within the school, and those changes are getting implemented. Similarly, my younger daughter was part of a weekly mentorship program at Raytheon, another one of Shana’s numerous initiatives at Mt. Hope. This experience allowed my daughter, among countless other students, to get their questions answered about the real world and find someone they trust to help them navigate it.

How I worked with Aradhana's Family

I have had the pleasure to work with each of Aradhana’s daughters. I was able to get to know them personally because they participated in the Raytheon Mentoring Program. They were each paired with a mentor whom they spoke about frequently as incredibly helpful since they were both considering a career in STEM.

Additionally, I was able to spend a lot of time with her oldest because she was selected as the Student Representative on the XQ:RI project. She was able to join the staff when we travelled to Iowa for a school visit.  She was delightful and as we would spend hours discussing how to best meet equity needs within the student body as a whole.  Through the process, we would discuss future careers and pragmatic steps to take to make them a reality.
